You don't have to change the tune if you don't want to, once the warranty is dead. But yes, unlike in the past all mfrs are having to patch the software to resolve issues. There have been one or two on recent Guzzis. On Euro5&6 - piggyback or outright replacement is going to be the only real way forrad. Euro4 is near impossible, I'm told.
Conspiracy maybe ? But if a formula 1 car testing in Assen can be mapped on the fly by a fellow in Tokyo , why can't motorcycle manufacturers change the parameters of an ecu the same way ?

You do know that Nat has enslaved 1000's of Dartmoor pixies to do all this stuff. Problem is finding a good one - they have to be released after a week or so, or they pine for the hills.

That or you have to sit in the van where they're caged and read lengthy passages from Lorna Doone. But this, even so is only a short term measure as Dartmoor pixies soon realise that the story is about Exmoor. Then they get all out of sorts and start cutting and filing the wrong bits off.
And they cost a fortune in pickled wagtail eggs and otters noses .. sneaky little bastards forgoe the nyloc nuts and spring washers !

OK and how much does that F1 remote mapping cost? - The New Triumphs are optionally connected via Google - but we all know how secure the internet is.
