I have a 2009 R3T. I have the TORs on it, with Triumph's TORs tune but it is otherwise stock in intake and exhaust. No TuneBoy, no Power Commander (or Dobeck) - nothing else.

I have recently changed over to a K&N air filter. I noticed on the ride home from the dealer (I had other work done at the same time) it seemed to me that the bike was running hotter. This was confirmed by my temp gauge, which was reading about 5 degrees higher than before. Also, when I came to stop lights, it went up to 212 much quicker than it did previously.

I suspect that the K&N is leaning up the mixture, making the bike run hotter. I'm going to run the 12 minute tune today to see if that makes any difference. If not, I think I'm going to have to invest in a TuneBoy (and a mechanic who knows how to use it) to adjust the a/f ration to 14.5 or so and see if that lowers the heat.

Here in FL going into summer, I need to get the heat under control.

Nothing againts TuneBoy but Tune ECU is free and there are a lot of maps available.

Many have had good luck with a PCV and AT. You will find lots of shops who are familiar with this set up.

Doubt it very much..

Last year when all that had been done to my stock Touring was the D&D pipes and the K&N in the stock airbox there were no unusual heat problems. (With stock tuning)

My heat complain was with the factory crossover under the bike. Tremendous heat when in traffic and riding slow in traffic. Most of this heat was on the RH side under my right leg. I got rid of the factory crossover and this season that situation is much better.
Unless your heat problem is occuring at road speed under load, I really doubt that it is anything related to mixture. That replacement K&N doesn't make any real difference in the breathing of the engine........that stock filter is just as efficient, it's just that you can't take it out and clean it and re-oil like the K&N. Now, if you get rid of the entire factory intake system,,,,,you may make a difference in the mixture.....but still not at idle and low load such as in traffic.
Give us some more detail as to when your R3 runs hotter.
