Is there any adjustment in the driveline?

Your post tells me it's a design problem, and not something for which I need to have the bike serviced. I will have to work on my shifting technique...
HUH ? the gear boxes are very smooth on the newer Rockets so yes you need to shift correctly youll get it together just put some more miles on the beast

Makes me wonder if shifting without the clutch (only when slowly accelerating, and only the 1-2 shift) is the way to reduce, or eliminate the lash...
NO always use the clutch if you dont if you miss a shift youll damage the dogs on the gears

I didn't try shifting without the clutch, but most vehicles with manual trannies can be shifted without using the clutch without damaging anything....good to know it shouldn't be done on the R3 though....

The driveline "slop" is my only complaint about my 2013 roadster. I'd like to see some comparisons. Put the Rocket in first gear, (not running), and roll it back and forth. How much "slop" travel do you get? I'll go measure mine and post later. It does become a pain when getting back on the throttle, coming out of a corner, that you just downshifted to enter. I've learned to feather the clutch, to avoid the catching up slop breaking the rear tire loose. My Kawasaki ZRX1200r has the same problem, and I know it's the cush rubbers in the rear wheel on that bike.

Well, I couldn't get any decent measurements, but there is a lot more slop going back and forth, in 2nd gear, than any of the other gears, at least on my 2013 Roadster.

You got me curious so I went out and measured the distance between how far forward and backward I could push the bike while in each gear (I put a tape measure on the ground by the kickstand and took the delta from its positions). Here's what I got on my '14 Roadster:
1st 1.5"
2nd 4.5"
3rd 2.5"
4th 3.5"
5th 5.0"
I'm not sure what that means or how it corresponds to driveline lash, but that's what I got.

That would explain why it feels like there's a lot of lash when I go around a sharp corner slowly in 2nd. I'd been wondering about this just today. Thanks, guys, for shedding some light on it.

ITS designed that way so you wont miss 2nd gear and damage the dogs on the gears
