I'm purchasing a Trumph OEM light bar for my R3T. How difficult is it to install? I'm not an accomplished wrench, but I have metric tools and can handle around the house repairs, etc. I did install a light bar on my old Suzuki C90, but it was considerably loder when I did it and I wasn't so concerned about making a mistake as I am on my pristine new (480 miles) R3T.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Wish I could help. I have one and I love the visibility but this was one of the initial options I opted for during the $1500 of options deal. I can see so much better than I could on my Harley that I started riding at night this fall which I never dared to do on the Harley. I have found, so far, that installing factory options from Triumph tends to be pretty straightforward. I installed the heated grips a couple weeks ago and I was pretty intimidated when I read the instructions, but I just went step by step and got it done. Good luck! :)

Triumph has good dirrections included with accessories with what I've done so far, running the wires correctly will probably be your biggest hassle. You can do it.

As mentioned, the instructions are very clear. It takes awhile since you have to remove and reconnect the turn signals (they mount to the light bar). As long as you're comfortable lifting the tank and locating the proper wiring connections you'll be fine.

The biggest pain is getting them aimed correctly. It helps if you have a lift of some sort so you can get the bike level (or a helper to hold the bike steady).

Or a center stand ... there's another difficult installation made easier with this site. lol :)

The lights were probably the most 'challenging' accessory add on. The instructions are clear and make sense. Time consuming, about 2 1/2 hours for me.

Check to see if you have the complete wiring harness. They were shipping with 1 of the 2 connectors that connect under the tank. The check engine light will be on after installing (if you check the lights with the inst panel unplugged) but will go off after three heating cycles.

The check engine light comes on because of installing aux lights? That doesn't sound right at all.

You have to remove the instrument cluster to lift the tank. If you start the bike without plugging the cluster back in, it will set a code and the check engine light will illuminate. After a few cycles it will go off. No big deal.
