Yesterday was one of those days where you nip out for a ride and start to ponder on things. The ride out was slightly different to the return in terms of temperature and breeze only. Was one of those days where everything feels right - smooth and fastish cruising. 120-140kph - 12-14% Throttle - 14.5-14.7 AFR.
Outward. Dead Calm.
It Started with "Would putting these earplugs in at at different angle make a difference?" - Very much YES. But .... (more on this later)
Helmet Buffeting : So I think my idea of "buffeting" may well be different to others. I maybe more or less tolerant - who knows?.
Return. Slight breeze.
So then - Ear Plugs. The new position was far more "isolating". But once I was home and removed them - I was truly surprised how much more I could perceive my Tinnitus. This is something I noticed at work last week too (it was how I'd discovered the new position) - It's a test I need to repeat. But with a neck warmer/scarf.
Makes me wonder if total Isolation is actually as good as it sounds. I have heard that being in anechoic chambers can really upset some folk. Maybe I am one of those affected. By the time I went to bed - some 7 hours later the Tinnitus had really ramped up.
Still there this AM until I had a coffee. Caffeine is know to help Migraine sufferers - Maybe (I know the causes are different) it's a semi-remedy. Not even noticeable now.
So laet playtime commence.

- I tried lowering/raising my eye line relative to screen height - Used the Clearview concept for analysis. From my position to that that they suggest - I prefer to keep my screen where it is - lower than they suggest. Why? - Mine is lower - I see better and it made no difference to buffeting.
- Tried moving my head forward towards the screen - maintaining POV distance. Improvement though not massive.
- Tried shrugging my shoulders up to close the Neck Gap. Wow!. Far less noise and a little less buffeting. Also neck warmer. Hmmmmm!
- The only correlation that was discernible on the run out was that there was some steering vibration noted when I had buffeting. Speed alone made little difference. Yes it did but there was also more vibration. And I do mean vibration. Nott Vibration - Not even vibration.
Return. Slight breeze.
- Moment of "annoyance" as the beast was reluctant to fire. So I was wary and wont to observe the voltage.
- There was more cross wind and this was a noticeable factor. The road I use is a circular route from one side of Madrid to the other and the angle the breeze comes from makes a fairly big difference. I did not have time to quantify it - but again the buffeting seemed to correlate to screen/bar vibration.
- Perceived helmet noise is affected by whether your mouth is open or not. My nasal passages tend to block up and I have to mouth breathe every so often. Aha!.
