I should have got a Harley

A friend of mine bought a 2010 Sportster and one of the foot pegs fell off before he got home from the dealership! Lucky he was close to home. How modern you mean like yesterday modern?

Another friend of mine has rode this same Sportster and say's he wouldn't have it. He said it was "loud and vibrated like hell".

I think they started with the counter balance shafts in the past 10 years or so? Sportsters may not have them, I don't know 100%.

in the last 5 years or so harleys have come a long way.
I think they use locktight now.

B.S. they're still underpowered overpriced POS's.
Most Everybody I ride with rides h-d's and even the v-rods are slow
compared to my wifes Rocket...and hers is RED.
They KNOW they can't keep up with a BLACK rocket.

The perfomance of a big twin harley is pretty close to a thunderbird

Nobody buys either bike for speed. You want power you buy a VROD or Rocket.

I would venture a guess that the majority of Harley owners, and all of those for whom the Harley is their first bike, have no real concept of what a motorcycle is all about. I doubt many of them have intentionally slid the rear wheel when exiting a corner, or placed a knee down on a perfectly executed apex.

For most of them their motorcycle is more of a lifestyle statement, or worse yet a piece of butt jewelery. Most that I see ride their motorcycles like they are two wheeled convertibles. Of course there are exceptions, but they seem to be few and far between.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Exactly. They wouldn't know anything about Sag,Free Sag,Bottoming,Compression Damping,Ride Height,Trail, etc... if it smacked them in the face. And some might not even know what a spark plug is for.

Someone mentioned to me that men that are going through a mid life crisis buys a Harley more than anyone. After hearing that statement I noticed a lot of mid life crisis' all over the place. lol

And why is it they don't wear helmets? I guess they see that as a sign of weakness or something. They go to their friends funeral because he busted head open but yet not wear a helmet. Strangest thing I have ever seen. I like to learn from other people's mistakes because it saves the heart ache and trouble of go through it myself.
