He actually didn't ride at all. The original scene for the opening of the show was shot on a HD Sportster. He crashed just going across stage into the shot. He said it was too heavy. So they got the Bonneville, and pushed him into the shot. He never even started the motor.

Fast forward to 2013, spotto the cute Dr Who assistant on the T Scrambler on the 50th Anniversary show in the weekend. Happily go pillion.
