How do you remove the ignition switch to see if it is bad?

The switch looks like if you pull the switch apart you will never get it back together.

Ok, I drill top of screws then pryed off caps and slipped ignition switch off. Then pressed two connectors attaching botton cap of switch which came right off. All wires and solder joints look very good. Now I will get larger cables for ground and starter motor and see if that helps. Thanks too all who helped me get this far in my search for starting problem.
