How do I fit a new front left indicator?

Hi there,

I smashed my Roadsters front left indicator and ordered a new one. I had assumed I would just attach to the bike and wire up to the original wires. However, the new indicator comes with a wire fitted with a plug on the end. I will need to take the cover over the forks off to find where the wires go. This appears to be attached by 3 bolts. One either side and one at the front of the tank! Do I have to remove the tank? Has anyone changed an indicator. I thought it was going to be simple!!!

Cheers Chris

A Rocket simple? hehe
That wire does go quite far, it's to keep the plug out of the weather and out of the pinch points. Probably have to loosen up the loom to fish it out if you want to replace the whole thing. If the wire and plug is still good on the old one, you could try to use the wiring from the broken one and make a splice inside the part to weather proof it. There are ways to cheat.

Hellfire,

Thanks very much. I took your advise and Rewired the new indicator using the original wire. Not that difficult and very effective. Much essier than trying to get to the end of the wire!!!

Thanks again.

Cheers Chris

cheapie signal replacement

Trashy, low-budget, cheap-crap signal unit replacement: I did this refit fairly recently and was shocked at how far under the tank this module goes! All to reconnect a cheapie plastic crap signal that belongs in the nearest trash can at best:mad: Now, I'm considering ditching these poor quality, rubbish signals altogether and refitting some custom billet numbers...or routing 'em into custom signal mirrors like Hellfire suggested to me on another thread. Good luck.
