Hyperlites are red diodes that mount on either side of the license plate. There are various programs but a common one is to flash three times when you hit the brake and then remain on. They're bright enough to get the attention of the zombies behind you but not obnoxious.So are muzzle flashes, but they would probably frown on you blasting the windshield out of every car approaching you from behind when you are stopped. It would be effective though!

That really sucks. Hope you get it fixed soon. Intersections and parking lots are bad news. I follow a few simple precautions every time we pull up to a stoplight or stop sign. always look behind before braking. When we are stopped keep a eye on traffic both behind and to the sides. One foot down and one foot up in gear and ready to go. We relax a bit but not much after two cars are behind at light or stop sign. In the last 10 years twice now this has saved my ass. Had a young lady texting and never even saw the red light. I jumped between the cars in front of me and the young lady blowed the car that I was sitting behind. If we had not been paying real close attention that day we would not be here to write this. All the fancy lights in the world can not make up for good riding skills. Education is the key. We have been to more than one motorcycle safety course. Each time we attend a course I have learned something new. More often than not I see a motorcycle sitting at a light with a rider not paying attention both feet down and in neutral. We call that an accident waiting to happen.

The worst part I think was"wow did this just really happen???" still sore and feel blue. The fact that older drivers are on the road doesn't upset me, as long as they are capable drivers. That goes to drivers of all ages. They as in cage drivers do not seem to even acknowledge that we are out there. Just be safe guys, it could have been a lot worse, but I can tell you this his "I didn't see you" line just angered me even more. My response was " its still a STOP sign you had to stop!!!" But tis life and hopefully will go on for a long time.

Were you knocked off the bike or just pushed forward?
This hits home with me for just two weeks ago I was lucky enough to see a SUV approaching at speed behind me while sitting at a stop light. I had just looked left and right, then in the mirror and there it was hauling the mail toward me and Brahma. At the last second I decided I had to leave and believed that he didn't see me or the red light. This is the first time I have spun Brahma's rear tire and the first time I felt the front wheel come off the tarmac, albeit only slightly. I kept WOT all the way across the intersection and noticed the light go green about half way across. As I passed the other side, I looked in the mirror and could see his nose dipping down from breaking hard. I think my acceleration got his attention. I didn't go back to speak with him or her, just thankful I was vigilant at the moment.

I was jolted forward pretty hard and managed to keep control of the bike and not get pushed into oncoming traffic. Thanks for the support guys. He was in a SUV so it rocked the rockets world a little. He wanted to shake my hand and apologize, but I politely told him that was not in his best interest or mine due to me being so upset.
