Not on an R3 - but loads of others in the past.

A problem with the R3 reflectors is that the "dipping" H4 (the only sort worth bothering about) holders wont fit through the hole for the bulb. Also finding somewhere to mount the driving hardware is a PITA. I gave up trying and went LED.

same here, doesnt appear to be any proper HID option for rockets due to headlight casing and lack of ballast locations

Could you give some details of the LED setup you used?
