09 Rocket Touring
Hi all. I am a veteran bike rider of 47 years experience and about 25-30 bikes. I live 70 miles north of Dallas. I just sold my 06 Stratoliner (nice bike), and now am looking forward to getting the 09 Rocket touring in about 3 weeks.
Are there any differences between 2008-2013 touring models? Has anyone tried Cee Bailey's 22' windshield? I know I will be wanting a taller one than stock
I think the bike has most everything I want other than taller windshield, throttle lock (I am getting the Go Cruise, I had one on the Strato and it is awesome), and maybe some accent lights. Is there anything else you can think of that a loaded stock Rocket touring might need? Thanks, Tim

Welcome Rocket from the great state of Oklahoma

A better headlight and mirrors.

I replaced the entire headlamp assembly (reflector, lens and bulb) with one from Candlepower and can now see at night. The stock round mirros don't give much rea view. Triumph uses an oddball mounting system so need an adaptor for most aftermarket mirrors.

There are 2 size windshields from Triumph. If you have the taller one you may not need the one from Cee Baile.y

I read about them on the interweb. Sounds like they let a lot of smaller particles through. Some say particles that size don't hurt anything, others say they do. So far I've stayed with K&N oil filters.

An oil filter is something like $12. It will take you a long time to realize any savings, not to mention the aforementioned question about their effectiveness.

Its like trying to save money by using a car tire. I try to consider the complete cost of ownership when making a purchase. Main reason I never bought a boat.

WELCOME!!

1. Get oval mirrors. (make sure they are convex)
2. I am 6'3" and the Triumph tall windshield is the first factory windhield that I didn't have to go aftermarket on. It is perfect. No buffeting. I keep the shorter one for fall and spring and go empty during hot summer.
3. Long Haul touring seat with backrest.
4. TORs Exhaust. Bike sounds like a Goldwing stock. Look on here on how to do your own download to rejet the bike. (It was simple and free.) TuneECU is awesome.
5. If your tall, I suggest the handlebar risers from Rivco.
6. GPro-ATRE to remind you that it only has 5 gears. HEHEHE Also, it allows the beast to unleash more power in the lower gears.

Hope this helps.

Hey slidderhd, thanks for the suggestions. Does the TORs and Tune affect mpg? I know I want the risers, they have been a must on previous bikes.
