Hey fellas,

I need some help, my bike doesn't start! I've installed my new pipes from Sam and loaded Tripps TORS / underseat KN tune from Triumph_Custom_Tune_list. 3 & 4 Cyl. models (Hanso offered his tune but with the triple kns - which I haven't installed yet) and it started fine - pipes sound awesome and everything. Started it again last night - bike switches on and goes through it's startup process then I try to start it and it turns over once and restarts (goes through the startup process again like the ECU has reset).

Only thing I did which might have caused this, was I didn't plug in the O2 sensor into the new pipes (but had it disabled in the map manually). So I go take the O2 sensor off the stock pipes, screw it into the new ones and hook it back up to the harness.

Now It goes through the startup process and doesn't turnover at all. Also the startup process sounds, sound a bit odd. Now for the worst part, my laptop doesn't even connect to the ECU anymore, the ODBII cable has the blue light on the connection - I hit connect in TuneECU and it blinks red, then yellow, then red (it'd usually go green and connect after yellow).

Have I just shorted out my ECU or something else? My fault, but this sucks.

Well maybe I just confirmed my own thoughts on shorting out the ECU, as the bike doesn't even make noises when you turn the ignition on and doesn't show the low fuel light or engine error light it did before (for the O2 sensor).

Trying to connect to the ECU with TuneECU now doesn't even give the yellow connection light in the bottom right hand corner - just all red. GREAT!

So looks like I've ****ed it big time. Checking the fuses, none are broken/blown from my untrained eye.

some times going into the ecu can be a little tricky . i doubt you have shorted the ecu. .make sure battery is fully charged. remove earth ,ground from battery and reattach. reload tune if it connects. if it will not connect try recovery mode. reload tune .

Hey Pedro,

I think you may be on the money, I've got no charger on me - but i'll have one tomorrow to charge it and find out. I went back out to look for the recovery mode in TuneECU (which is greyed out by the way) and there is a very small amount of fluid sizzling on top of the battery when the ignition is on. I have been messing around with TuneECU a lot over the weekend.

Thanks for the response and it atleast sets my mind at ease for now, I was preparing for the worst (As you'll have noticed, my mechanical skills/knowledge is pretty horrible)...

Cheers,
Dean
