I was trying to install my new aux lightbar on my R3T. The instructions call for lifting the tank to get to the plugs.

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I lift the tank on the R3T ?

I did a search through the forums, most how to's are for the Standard / Classic R3/

Is it as simple as removing the gauge cluster and propping up the tank ? Do I need to pinch off fuel lines or anything ?

Thanks.

Hey Crazy, I don't know about the R3T but even at that, you should not have to worry about any fuel lines needing attention. There should be a long enough service loop to accommodate the tank movement for service beneath. I'm certain you are aware of the standard Rocket "under tank" access. There is a button head, hex socket screw beneath the speedo & tach (centered between the two) when removed, allows the front of the tank to "lift" up (hinge is at the rear of the tank beneath the seat front). On the right side of the upper frame is a couple of plastic clips which hold the "prop wand" which is used to support the tank during service beneath. The stub end of the rod drops into the screw hole, the "fingered" end goes into the hole on the tank bracket.

Not certain how the R3T works but if any of this is applicable, there ya go.

See ya.

Dont know if you've seen posts about missing 1 of 2 wiring harnesses. I was missing mine.

The chrome "bearclaw" on the left side of tank comes off first. Its slides foward after removing the allen bolt on the front. Remove the three bolts holding the instrument console on, carefully lift it up and unplug.

Before re-attaching the instrument panel dont forget to tighten the two screws holding the front of the tank down like I did.

Ha ! I'm actually a dual citizen of both the U.K. and the U.S. Two passports, two similar but quite different cultural backgrounds. Makes for some interesting living.
:D

FYI, the Triumph instructions tell you to turn the key on and test the lights prior to reinstalling the cluster. Bad idea. It trips the check engine light. Plug the cluster in before turning the key. Also the connector is a little hard to find. It's on the right side of the bike, usually tucked under the wire harness, just forward of the half way point.
