Triumph America approved my "good faith" claim. My dealer has ordered me a complete ignition set including the tank lock and seat lock. So I am a happy R3 dude again.
Triumph was great to work with, no hassels, no BS, no nothing.
So hopefully in a week or so I'll pick up all the parts and get the rocket back on the road.
I'm quite happy for your outcome. If my recent developments, with an '07, are also a result of an ignition switch suddenly going bad I too hope for the same outcome.
Hey guys.
I got all the parts from the dealership (free), I had to snip off the connector and splice in a new different design one (modified because of water penetration).
Put everything back to gether, including a net seat lock, and new gas cap and ....
The Rocket came right back to life.
Plus the new keys are more stylized than my old ones. NICE!
They supplied me with all new parts at no cost. New switch (new plug so I had to rewire the harness under the tank - no biggy), a new gas cap and new seat lock asm. I put it all back together and ... she lives! I am a happy camper.. Thanks everyone for all your help.
Mine was a mere 4 months out of warranty and Triumph is covering it. I've not gotten the total bill for the entire operation but I'm happy about the ignition switch coverage.
The chrome on one side of the radiator surround (chrome on plastic) had blistered in several places. Whether Triumph also covers it is yet to be stated.
