I had a 08 Suzuki C109R and loved it but After 50,000+ she started to give me problems. She was costing too much just to keep her on the road. I traded her in of this 09 R3 with 6,500 miles.

I do have a question for everyone. Headlights who is running something brighter? What is it?
Hey Steve, welcome to the site and a big welcome from Perth WA.

Welcome from West Michigan ! Right about here

JW Speaker 8630's. But let me suggest you also investigate the Primo Rivera 5&3/4" LED conversions. Mainly because they're cheaper by a good margin than JW Speakers or Harley Daymakers (made by JW Speaker). Also I would HIGHLY suggest you do the Eastern Beaver relay conversion - JUST TO BE SAFE.

Thank you for the great responses and I see the relay kit but what about the lamps? All I see with this eastern beaver kit is a wiring harness and relays. I'm assuming to put in a larger watt bulbs? With HIDs we usually need a ballast/igniter. LEDs use less power (watts) then incandescent or HIDs. I'm sorry but I'm lost. When I purchased my bike it didn't come and manual. I don't know what watt lamp is in the 09 R3. but shirley someone make a larger watt lamp for this. 35 watt lamp at 12vdc is 3amps. 45W at 12vdc is 3.75amps. I would not think there should be any problem with this.

The EB kit redirects the power to the headlight so that it comes directly from the battery, and not through the ignition switch. The wiring on the ignition switch loom is too weak to really handle the power of the headlights and you end up with quite a voltage drop, and resulting loss of light. You also end up causing the ignition to fail as one of the solder joints will fail and so no power gets to the important bits and the bike won't start, or run.

After installing the EB kit your lights will be brighter. If you then go to your local AutoZone (or similar) and get the brightest H4 (IIRC) bulbs you can, then you will have very bright headlights. Others here have experimented with LED bulbs and other systems. These are all more expensive, but apparently can give good results.

Manuel below. ;)
