Has this ever happened to you?

A couple of nights ago I was cruising back home on the Interstate when a "Thunder Road" custom soft tail came up beside me, gave me a "ya wanna try it" look and twisted his throttle. I did and caught up with him in a couple of seconds. By that time we were both running well in excess of 100 and had to slow for traffic. My R3 was faster but only by a tad. The TR was powered by a 108ci FI HD. I rode with him for about 20 miles then stopped at the "Flying Pig" for a cold one. The owner "didn't know" what mods the motor had other than larger cams. I did compliment his scoot for having some REAL beans plus it was show room gorgeous.

Has anybody else had anything stay close? Guess it is time for the super charger.

I haven't had anything stay close in acceleration. I have had a few pass by me when I let off in traffic near 100. They didn't beat the speed, only the riders commons sense that slowed me down.

No matter what you buy or how much go fast money you install, there is always something faster. Your bike is basically box stock. A stock HD, no matter what year is a lawnmower. He put go fast money in and probably plenty and you didn't and you still edged him out. Be happy grasshopper.

Plus.. talk to him when his bike has 50,000 miles on it and see where he stands.. You're Rocket will be running strong..

His ultra hopped up Harley clone motor will most likely need a rebuild by then. Stock Harleys are actually pretty reliable, but hop them up to get real power out of them (as with any really hopped up motor) and longevity goes out the window..
