Since I realy cant afford a batwing fairing from Corbin, nor do I think it is a good deal for what you get. I am looking at a pair of great hangle bar mounted speakers and amp system Lots on the market, but would like some oppinions. I run the summer wind sheild, so it has to cut over the wind as well. Would appreciate imput, and ideas.

Will something like this work?
instead of handlebar mounts i mounted them to the windshield bracket, same with the amp, if this works let me know and i will gide you thru the whole thing:)

Mexican,
Yes, something like that? Infact I think I was looking at those this morning. What brand are they? And how's the performance? How many watts? What kind of sound? That sort of thing.
Also, is that the full sheild or a summer? I only have a summer sheild.

I don't remember the brand name, the speakers are water proof but the amp is not, it is the full shield and it should not make any difference the shield size, the sound is good and you can hear it at 80 mph, the wattage is about 10 true watts per side, installation is really easy, it comes with handlebar brackets but i just drilled the windshield bracket and ran the bolts thru attaching the speakers directly to the shield, price was about $60, just google motorcycle audio and all kinds of options will be available, the new version comes with powered speakers and no amp, the audio device or mp3 connects directly to the speakers:)

Beware of the 50 watt Cycle Sound speaker/amp system. Around town it was fine but wasn't doing too well at highway speeds. Cycle Sounds has introduced a more powerful system (with bigger speakers) so it should be better but it will crowd the handlebars the bigger they are. Mexican made a good point about "true watts". You get a good enough speaker and one "true watt" is enough to blow you across the room (usually reserved for home speaker set ups) but a lot has to do with that amp so check your specs carefully and good luck.

Molinoman is correct, most systems advertise max watts which is a selling point for them, most people don't know, for them the bigger the number they thing they are getting a better deal, look for RMS watts which is what the power the amp will give you without distorsion,
im not trying to lecture you or anything like that, more than likely you already knew this:D:)

A guy at work has speakers that look like Mexican's they are sold by Shark. The guy at work added a sub-woofer inside a saddle bag.

The little bit that I've heard sounded pretty good and loud from fifty feet.

Not for me though. I'd rather hear the road. Might be nice on a long trip but wouldn't want to add more clutter to my already full handle bars. Clock, speedo, tach, fuel gauge .

Now if I had a frame mount fairing like Lonzol maybe i would.:rolleyes:
