Anyone have a Gore-tex rainsuit you are happy with? Is it made by Triumph? My girl's thinking of getting me a rainsuit, but my experience is they're always really hot in the summer and a pain to put on pullin' over at the side of the road. Any recommendations of good suits, not too expensive, would be appreciated. Fish

No response to your question ? I won't be of much help. I've been meaning to check into the Frog Brand (? is that right, frog, or hog?)
However my search always starts and ends with one must have feature, lower pant legs that won't melt when they come into contact with hot pipes.

Yeah, all the rain pants I've had had a special material that could take the heat around the shins.

I personally like the two piece Triuph suits as they are easier to put on. A buddy of mine who rides a Harley swears by the one piece suit by Triumph. He says its the best he has had in keeping him dry.

Hope these helps.

Yeah, good tips. Actually, she wanted to buy me the Triumph 1 piece suit, but I said I should probably get Gore-tex b/c I heard it's the only thing that breathes and stops the rain. The Triumph suit looks good and easy to put on/take off.

I only have experience with Frog Toggs and a Hefty Garbage bags with holes cut out for my arms and head so I can't comment on the Triumph gear. The Toggs worked quite well at MV this past year ya know the day it rained, oh wait that was everyday. They did keep me dry relatively dry and I was glad that I had them. The jacket leaks just enough to keep a steady breeze blowing on you so you don't roast while wearing them, could be a designed in feature I guess. But they do melt when exposed to hot Jardines and I would imagine other exhaust off brands as well. At only roughly $60 for the set they are not a bad buy and I would get them again if/when needed. Personally I like the 2 piece design, that way if I don't want to wear the pants or Jacket for some reason I don't have to.

Take my post with a grain of salt, I was happy with the garbage bag up until I bought the Toggs.

I'll second everything CadDad said.
They're cheap, they're good to keep the wet stuff out,
and they will melt upon contact with hot pipes.
Plus they're light and come with their own little carrying case.
They roll into almost nothing when you pack em away.
Would I buy them again?
Yes.

I have the Triumph 2-piece. It keeps me dry from the rain, but like all rain gear it can get "clammy" inside from sweat, until you settle down and quite perspiring so much. It also makes for great addition to cold weather gear as it is quite effective at keeping out the heat stealing wind. The back of my head and my neck are the only parts of me that gets wet in really long rides in the rain...the constant rain eventually saturates the padding in the back of my helmet and it keeps going from there. Most uncomfortable. Next time I'll duct tape some plastic back there, or grow me a "Tennessee Waterfall"
