No idea but potentials are: 75K wear and tear plus sharp rock or gravel kicked up from front tire
Been looking at protective options, BB - belly pan might be best of all. Anyone in US got a used one for sale?

How about installing a home made mud flap on the rear of the fender? That may be easier.... and cheaper. A simple piece of black plastic cut from an indoor waste basket? Use Epoxy to attach it to the inside lip of the front fender (after cleaning it good first)?
It was probably caused by having the darkside on the back.......

A belly pan will change the look.. 'course you might like the pan look! a protective sheath on the pipe will be practically unnoticable..
