Gash found on water pump output hose

I guess all things wear and that hose has no protection like the drain hose, plus grit, gravel etc. kicking up from the front tire --

I had what looked like a slit cut in my front radiator hose; not too long after I got my Rocket. I suspected that someone at a HD dealer that I visited tried to nick it; but luckily it did not go all of the way through. I replaced the hose myself and also installed the protective spring coil around it (it was missing).

I'd like to put some protection around it but there's no room between hose and crankcase. Maybe a couple strips of black duct tape?

You could always just split another heater hose longitudinally; and simple push it over the OEM one possibly from an angle that you can get to it. The protective outer hose does not have to completely wrap around the OEM hose; just wrap around enough on it; where it won't fall off.

That will give it more protection. Cheap and better than nothing.

Yes, already thought of that, Will - used to do that to cover stickers on a Honda downframe, till I thought of removing the actual sticker - lol

Ok. Things you should know:

1) this hose has a larger diameter at the bottom than the top

2) put the bottom on first, slip clamps over the top and then push the top of hose up onto pipe

3) I found it easier with drain hose unclamped and pulled out to make room to maneuver

Finally, feel free to prove me wrong and put the top of hose on first - let me know if you succeeded and how long it took!

I can certainly do that, but it's now installed on the bike - should have taken a pic before so you could clearly see the hose

Here's pic of hose installed:
