fuel filter in tank?

It is inside the tank.

I don't see why you'd need a dealer to change it, follow the instructions for fixing the low fuel indicator and you should be fine.

Just be sure not to put it in backwards.

Curious, why are you changing it?

I've given up on my manual since it's been telling me all this time to use the wrong fuel...

That verifies that the Throttle Body assembly for the R3T is different than the Standard/Classic model. And, its $500 more expensive!! I really wonder what was changed, and what makes it worth $500 more....

Probably a higher quality TPS that doesn't fail due to thermal drift after a year or two... No I really don't know...

I figure that if Triumph decided that the filter could be so hard to change therefore it doesn't need to be changed that often.

My car is the same, remove the wheel, mudguard etc 1 1/2 hour job for a stupid gas filter. I first changed it after 7 years 130000km 80,000mi. Looked allright and no sediment came out of it. It had surface rust

It's not like the old carb filters that would clog up so easy, they were so tiny.... these are big filters and IMO can last a really long time.
 
i'm gonna figure "lifetime" on my filter!!! sumbeech will have ta clog slap back to gas tank afore i change it!! must be 2 feet long!! just gettin it out of tank is a job!! w/that float bob!! --john
 
After picking up nearly a handful of rust from some unknown petrol bowser:twisted:
and having to replace the filter while being out of town , I now use a" Mr Funnel " http://www.mrfunnel.com/Models.html when I fill up. No water or contaminants get into my tank and my filter theoretically should never need replacing now.I highly recommend them as getting your filters cleaned or replaced is a big hassle and can be be very expensive.nearly every time I fill up i find a few specks of shiny metal left in the funnel , which otherwise would be in my tank.Oh , and if you think the filter fully protects the injection system from rust and water , bad news .......it does still let some through as i drained rusty coloured petrol from the fuel hose after the filter and before the injection system .
