Front Dresser Bars

Rivco bars don't extend outward as far as Triumph OEM bars. I don't believe they extend outside of the floor boards as do the OEMs. The vertical section of the Rivco bars aren't nearly as vertical as OEMs. The Rivco were stronger (less flex) that original OEMs. Hopefully the latest rendition of the Triumph bars is truly built stronger. The thumbnail image is of the Rivco bars.

Triumph OEM dresser bars

Does anyone out there have the new ( OEM dresser bars ) ? I was wondering if they are any more than that, dressers.; Because I can certainly testify that is what the ( old ones ) are, they absolutely do not provide any kind of protection at all ! You can very easily bend them by hand with little effort. Very disappointed for two hundre dollars . What a rip off ! http://www.r3owners.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

That's an ambigious statement. It entirely depends on the mounting method. If it's a split clip, yes. If it's a "P" type mount, no especially if it's a hardware specific mount.
 

I've had mine ( OEM ) down twice, both sides . Once in the middle of the road, and once backing out of the shed. No damage at all, just lost some coolant fluid.

It shouldn't matter....Kuryakyn makes the pegs and you can buy different size P-Clamps to fit any bar from them.

Thanks jeepster...my concern was that I have some choices when it comes to the foot pegs and mounts and that the bars themselves did not limit using aftermarket items. I knew that Kuryakyn had some combinations out there from when I fitted my Valk with foot pegs. Thanks for the response. SB.

Not ambiguos at all and not intended to be. Almost anythint that fits a 1" bar can also be had to fit a 1 1/4" bar. Most manufacturers make an assortment of clamps because there is a variety of bar sizes out on the market.

The only thing one needs to know is what diameter their bar is and then make sure that the peg clamp is made to fit that size bar.
 

****it Dave, your are supposed to agree with me.

My preference in clamps would be to stay away from the "P" type clamp and use a 2 piece clamp. The "P" type because of it's nature, spreads the clamping force through minute elongation of the ring itself whereas the 2 piece clamp exerts a more concentrated (and thus less able to slip) force as the two halves squeeze together like a vise.
