2023 Triumph R3 GT, 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT,
I just got out of my manual. Fork oil is listed as 667 ccc of 5 SAE. Which is OK if I was going to use standard transmission oil. I always use specific oil for forks.
Question . What is the proper oil for our R3 forks >> In fork oil bottles . 5, 10, 15 ect. I normally use PJ1
Also it calls for 667 CCs , is that per leg???
Thanks

I just did mine yesterday. I got the SAE 5 Fork Oil from a local Triumph dealer. You will need 667cc for each leg, so you will need two litre bottles. The oil is a nice shade of green. It was quite amazing how 667cc's filled it to exactly 89mm below the top - just as it says in the manual. I also put Progressive springs in. The results were well worth the effort. :)
Thanks for the info. I think I got the seeping stopped with a very old trick , using a strip of 35 mm film . I will probably change out the seals when I get home from Wayne's. Thats if they don't start leaking.
I contacted Sonic springs. They have made several sets for me over the years. They will give me anideasa of which oil to use.
BTW the old trick is to take a strip of the 35mm film negativez that we use to get with our old pictures. Round off a couple of corners, and run it between the seal and the fork leg. It will push out any dirt that get caught up there. Another is to add a couple of ounces of brake fluid to the fork oil. It wilsoftenen answellel the fork seals. Not a long term cure, but will extend the life by a couple of months.

How often (in mileage) should the fork oil be changed in regular non-dusty conditions? Also is there a "how to" post somewhere?
There should be a sticky.
Thanks.
