hi to all . picked up my r3 last week. also have a boss hoss trike with a 350 it is flamed and I have it on ebay now.I just took my r3 in for the 500 mile service and they told me the engine has to come out and be torn down to cure some shifting issues. Is this common?guide me " O " wise ones....... thanks

Hey Limey, glad to have you aboard. No the shifting problem isn't all that common, but it's not unheard of either. Which r3 did you get? Must have been a red one to have problems right off the bat like that. Mines had the output shaft bearing problem and Triumph fixed it. The only other problem I've had was a coil wire came loose internally and made it miss for awhile. Overall I really enjoy my bike, and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I could afford it. You got a great bike there, and once you have it back and knock the "new" off it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.. congrats, and welcome aboard..

Not uncommon to have difficulties getting it into first or finding neutral when brand new. Once the break in oil is changed out it improves. Even after over 10,000 miles I occassionally find that I don't get it into first all of the way and have to roll back a bit or release the clutch a bit then stomp it back into gear again.

Hope it turns out well and welcome to the site.

Welcome.. :) That isn't the norm. Mine is an early (July '04) model with 32,000 trouble free miles. The only thing I've had to do mechanically is tighten the nut that puts tension on the steering neck bearings.

Getting the new Avon tires put on at the moment, will pick her up tomorrow and get the new tires scuffed in good.. :)

Hard to down shift

Limey...I have noticed my 08 standard has become tough to downshift, about 1200 miles. If I wait after pulling the clutch or double clutch it is just fine. Am I doomed to have a Popeye left arm is this the issue they are fixing?
