First Service

Definately, it comes under Australia's freedom of trade laws, ie allowing just one agent (in this case Triumph) to only carry out the servicing denies other competant and qualified mechanics the ability to make a reasonable living. This applies to all such equipment that requires servicing, it does not affect your warranty in any way as long as the person carrying out the service is qualified.

I have had my bikes serviced by other servicing departments other than the dealer I bought the bike from for many years, this was done because of the faith I had in my mechanic to do the right thing.

When it comes to the warranty work however, not having a Triumph qualified servicing department carry out any warrantable work will void the warranty.

Don't know if it works the same in other countries but this is the case in Oz.

Klumpy, I've got an R3T. Had it for 3 months and done 9500 km. I consider it run in. I just varied the speed up to 160 k/h within the 1st few weeks. I was told to break 'em in like you want to ride 'em. The other thing I did was change the oil after about 5000 km

Have fun

Thanks guys,

Sounds like I'm running in the girl just fine. Have queried quote and been advised it is now $385. Guess for peace of mind over following 16,000 K's, I can likely live with that. All else besides, what a great bike! Wife is already complaining about being a widow, time to take her pillion I reckon.
Great forum!
