You are under no compulsion to use a Triumph dealer, you are able to take it to any competant mechanic hopefully some one you have had good dealings with in the past with. The only time it needs to go to a Triumph dealer is to have warranty issues fixed.
Peter
Are you dead sure about that?
You don't want to risk the dealer using the most convinient excuse like "you didn't use approved dealer" for refusing to repair/fix something after the event
Suggest you shop around but try & stick with a Triumph dealership if possible.
Definately, it comes under Australia's freedom of trade laws, ie allowing just one agent (in this case Triumph) to only carry out the servicing denies other competant and qualified mechanics the ability to make a reasonable living. This applies to all such equipment that requires servicing, it does not affect your warranty in any way as long as the person carrying out the service is qualified.
I have had my bikes serviced by other servicing departments other than the dealer I bought the bike from for many years, this was done because of the faith I had in my mechanic to do the right thing.
When it comes to the warranty work however, not having a Triumph qualified servicing department carry out any warrantable work will void the warranty.
Don't know if it works the same in other countries but this is the case in Oz.
