First oil change, and?

2010 Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster
Okay, followed the manual, it's a 2010 roadster.
I did start un doing a plug I thought was the oil tank drain, not so, it was in line but further back than that drain.
I screwed it back in but it could be another plug? Any ideas on that one would be much appreciated.

Also, the rear sump drain plug, I could not find it from the diagram it is at the rear in line with the filter.
I found one on the side stand side towards the rear, removed that and drained a little oil out.

Is the diagram from the manual a little out?

Other than that, it started and ran great, strange how changing the oil makes the bike feel better.

Any ideas on the plug I started un doing much appreciated.

OK Yellow circles are the oil plugs/bungs, red is probably what you accidentally loosened up they are pipe plugs and need thread locker. the orange circles are the three bolts usually forgotten when trying to pull the sump pan.

That pipe plug looks like what I loosened.
Do you think I will need to remove and re seal, maybe I can wait until the next oil change?

Your photo looks more like my engine than the manual too!
 
First ones the hardest, they get easier as you go!! Good luck and have fun!!

It really depends on the manual. Early ones had the original oil sump pan. Then triumph changed and the manual followed. Since the bung plug came with the sealant on it I'd just check and insure proper torque and keep a eye on it until you know its not leaking.
 
Sounds like a plan, I'll keep an eye on it for leaks.
Now what would those pipe thread plugs be called so I can check the torque setting?

I have just screwed them in until it felt right, not that that sounds right!
 
Typically tge pipe plug nm is 22 nmif I eas to add more sealant I would not go with less then 22 nm if your not adding more splube 24 to 25 as its a taperd npt pipe thresd
