Fantastic BMW R100RS carves up some ****** rockets.

The vids have caused a storm of commentary on facebook - the rider owner finally posted the following

Hello folks, this has caused some controversy!

Firstly, we drive on the left, mostly.
There is not one blind corner on the wrong side of the road. A blind corner is one where you can't see around the corner. Simple.
The camera is not my eyes, and shows a different view to what I actually see.

The bike is essentially stock, and the alternator puts out up to 14.5 volts with a Bosch RE57regulator. No problems there.

Lines? There are no lines to ride, except the best one at the time.
Race track ideals do not apply.
I can always tell a track day rider. They should concentrate on what they're doing and not try to give signals with stuck out legs etc.

This has been my only bike for the last 25 years, except for one year when I had a K100 RS due to my RS being in a coma.

I hope to not be responsible for a world wide epidemic of blown boxer engines!

A fine piece of riding and that little Beemer was right on the top end of its capabilities but even the "little" sports bikes were pulling away from him on the short straights and would have lost him if the road straightened out ,however I don't know the circumstances or if the rider was aware of the riding skills of the other riders or if he even knew them ,one thing that spoils a nice ride with your mates is some other rider dropping in on you tailgating and passing you on the inside of a corner ,that being said I suppose the other rider could just backed off and let him pass with less dangerous moves , pushing other riders into riding beyond their normal speed and distracting them by sitting so close behind can lead to a disaster,

After all the controversy and view count went up heaps some started posting how the police use these speedo shots to charge the rider so he has removed the original and provided another below.

The second one still works.
And here is a third.

One thing that struck me - the amount of time that engine was WELL into the redline.
Makes me think it's maybe not stock.

But there are reasons why old Beemers and Guzzis are still sought after. That's one.

Brian Vogt same camshaft on both bikes. BMW installed the 308 cam on all their big bikes, the 336 which is a little hotter was available separately from BMW as their racing camshaft. It was never installed on a production bike because it would lessen the power on the bottom of the rev range.

A good refuge with a warm fire.

I have to admit this guy can really handle that old Beemer and I never knew how well they handle the various road conditions,a lot of it is the skill of the rider but the bike is robust enough to handle all the things he throws at it, great viewing
