As some of you know, I recently bought an engine off ebay for 300 bucks. Heck of a deal, couldn't pass it up. Yesterday I finally got to start tearing into it. Here's the results so far:

if she was not getting oil up there my bet the lower end will have some damage like a spun main blocking the oil passages!!
Real Bummer as I thought you lucked out and got a heck of a deal.

Yeah I guess we'll see. There's really no fixing that damaged head, is there?

It would probably be to costly to weld it up and have it line bored. You would be better off welding up your head if its just a outside crack.

Good plan. If there's anything you all need from this engine, let me know. I'm sure we could work something out.

It's certainly missed out on its oil changes. Difficult to tell the actual state as opposed to staining and abraiding in the photos but how does it measure with a mic etc?

Supposedly this engine only had about 500 miles on it. From the oustide it looks brand new. Even the oil filter looks like the first one. There must be something inside messed up with it. There's no way the camshaft journals would pass a mic test. My uncalibrated fingers can feel the gouges in them and the camshafts themselves.
