I'm working to install a GPS and a Phone to my handlebars, and I would like to have them both powered. Previously, on my last bike I had installed a 12v Cigarette plug on the handlebars, but found that it wasn't 100% reliable. I found that even though it had a waterproof cap, moisture still got in and it caused the inside of the unit to rust, which made the plug not connect properly and would often lose power when going over bumps and stuff. Also, you could only power 1 source at a time.

So my solution was to find a USB plug with 2 plugs to go in the cigarrette lighter plug. I did end up finding that, but it didnt solve the original few problems.. until I found this, its a dedicated USB plug with both a 2.1amp and a 1.0amp plug on the same port. This is perfect, because my Iphone and my Garmin both can connect to USB sources.

I bought this for about $25 bucks and it is a really nice unit, and it is 100% fully water proof and sealed. It looks great and I am looking forward to installing it on my bike and getting lots of use out of my phone's bluetooth functionality. I can also use this plug to charge my Sena bluetooth headset while out riding so I dont lose a connection.

Here are some pictures of the unit

I've used something similar for the past few years. I relocated the ignition switch to the left side and installed the cig lighter where the switch use to be. Found a dual USB adapter and plug the phone and GPS into it. Works like a charm.

Do you recall what kind of fuse you use when connecting the USB port to the battery? I have a 15amp fuse but wondering if thats too much... maybe should of went with a 5 or 10 amp?

That looks like a nice unit.

I don't think those USB ports put out anywhere close to even 5 amps; seems like their output is listed in milliamperes.

But the 'lectric gurus will likely chime in shortly.

Sorry, I don't recall what size fuse that I have in there. Mine is run to an Eastern Beaver PC-8 switched fusebox rather than directly to the battery.
