It is not hard. just make sure that the bar you use fits the riser you use... stock or otherwise. No, you will not need different cables, but this is a great time to upgrade to better cables like the ones from Barnett. And as Barbagris stated , make sure that nothing hits the tank at full lock.

Do y'all think I'll need risers? Or can I use the stock risers?
That will depend on so many things.

I built some Z bars.
11" rise - Standard risers.
Very little pull back.
A little drop at the wrists.
The bar uprights pretty much follow the angle of the forks
They're narrower than stock by about 3".
On full lock the switchgear is OVER the tank - maybe 1" to spare.

Honestly with simple drag bars - I think you'll need risers. BIG ONES
But there is only one way to know.

MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE.

I put drag bars on with Risers and didn't need to change the cables, I did need to reroute them but same cables.

I have since removed the drag bars and put the original handle bars back on, it is more comfortable on long rides.

There's a photo in my album on here with the big fat 1.5inch thunderbars!

I have the highwayhawk bars on mine and love them much more comfy than the stock ones for me but I think it depends on the individuals body type height reach ect what suits me another may hate for themselves . I could ride to the edge of the earth and back with my highway hawks .

bars

HI ,I had these made to my design and after some tweaks am really happy with them. 1/2" thick but 1" thick and mount into my original risers and used same cables etc. They are noe a bit lower and have a bend in the middle. but u can get the jist.

cheers

Related question, since I'd rather not start a completely separate thread for the exact same question.

1a. What dimension bars will the Rocket III take stock?
1b. What about the Rivco risers?

2. Does anyone have any experience fitting straight or minimum bend drag bars without fitting pullback risers?
2a. Specifically, I'm curious how the riding position would be if one were to replace the stock bars with drag bars, as the grips would likely be moved forward by 5-6 inches at least, and down by a few inches...

I'm aiming for a look like either of these (just the handlebars, mind):

And disregarding the 7/8" / 1" diameters, these look like acceptable replacements for an acceptable price:

Extreme (straight bar):

Severe (very small bend):

Potentially comfortable:

High rise, fair pullback, great looks:

The last one on the list reads "Fat 1 1/4" tube with standard size mounting." What is the standard size mounting?

Any advice or thoughts would be highly appreciated.
