Might be worth fitting that new relay anyway, just to be on the safe side. Last thing you want now is the old one to fail sooner rather than later!:eek3:
Thanks and I certainly will keep the new relay installed. I'm hoping that because I don't ride her in the rain, cept for once ;), and live in a dry climate, I won't have to visit the ignition switch issue for a long time if ever.

I agree with some others on the board that feel the problem with the switch is in powering the headlights through the switch. My new switch already has black residue on the surface where you insert the key. I believe a relay between the switch and the lights is in order.
