Clutch is Heavy/Straining...

Hey, I've been riding my new Rocket 3 Roadster after getting used to my previous V Star 950. I love the Rocket so much, that I do get use to the clutch, but wondering why it feels heavy; I have to really pull it in with effort. On the V Star 950 it was a beautiful breeze.

Is this common with the Rocket, or any other bikes over 1000cc's. I'm still learning as a rider, my experience with motorcycles is only 10 months old, so any tips will be much appreciated.

The Rocket has a heavy clutch but not outrageously so. I would give the cable some oil and see if it helps.

Well I'm still breaking it in, so that's why maybe.

Did your V Star have a cable or hydraulic? I was used to a hydraulic on my Kawasaki and the Rocket's cable is a harder pull.
I don't know why Triumph went with a cable.... but I'm glad because I rerouted mine and then put on a longer one after getting some handle bar risers. That would have been a real pain with a hydraulic line.

If it bothers you a lot you can get a cable from Barnett Clutch, they are smoother than the stock.

The Rocket does not have a heavy clutch, as it is a 2018 take it back to the dealer and have them look at it, most clutch cables now a days are Teflon coated so not really a need to oil them.

True but, won’t hurt to use singer sewing machine oil! One of the only oil that won’t break down plastic or Teflon liner.

Thank you guys for the advice, I checked out their site, they have pretty neat stuff. It doesn't bother me that much, but I live in the City, so when I'm in stand still traffic it does get a bit irritating, but not unbearable. If it's a big hassle to change it then I won't.
