I've changed fork springs before, but not on a Rocket.

I'm thinking to buy the Progressive springs.

I see from the manual (pdf) that a couple of "special tools"
are required.

Has anyone done this and if so, with or without the special tools... :?

Thanks!

Roy

Ive done it without any fancy tools from triumph. When you get the top plug out you will see what you need. Good for having the manual.

Busajack, what tool did you use? One common to a tool box or homemade? Wanting to do this also. Changed out my front springs on my VTX 1300 but it was just taking the top cap off and pulling the spacer and springs out and putting the progressives back in.

We are awaiting a complete report from gldean. He ordered the Progressives and is going to let us know how easy the install is. From what Jack posted though, it is fairly simple...

I also think Progressive front springs are in my immediate future. At $58 how can we lose?

I have them on my Speedmaster, but I did 440s on the rear at the
same time. 100% better ride after the upgrade.

Roy, were you at the Tahoe salvo? Someone there was telling me of installing them on a Speedmaster but I can't recall who. Just too many new names and faces at the time. Mike

I didn't change the springs,I just cut one inch of the spacer to lower Spike. The spacer is the first thing out.Theres a figure in the manual that lets you see what you need for special tools. 4 yrs ago and you expect me to remember what tools. Probably a chain saw and an axe..You can do it. Just like biker1059 said its not rocket science. So I cant say how the new springs are. Hard to get the top cap off without maring. Use a proper socket, clean and new. Jack  Wait,if you just want a stiffer front end you can just use longer spacers, for bigger guys. I shortened mine cause Iam a little guy.
