There are products that can clean out the engine's carbon build up, but it is up to you to use them when needed.

What product do you recommend?

Thanks for the info PTripp. My dealer whacked me for cleaning carbon buildup when I took her in for her 1 year maintenance. I posted a thread but this is way more informative. :D

Thanks for the tip. I just went to Auto Zone and bought three. One for the truck one to split between the Rocket and the Harley, some left over and another for later! :)

BG 44K is the only carbon remover that really works! Trust me. Half a can in the rocket will do the job if you run it hard for about 100 miles. $24 a can from napa.

OK, define run hard. Is that taking her out on the highway and doing a tonne for a 100 miles? Running her at high revs like doing 70 in 4th gear for a 100 miles? What is it where I won't get a ticket? I've gotten 2 in the last year for speeding already.

On a highway on-ramp, keep it in a low gear until it redlines, then let it engine brake down. This will loosen up the carbon and free up the rings. Just a couple of times of doing that will be all that you need.
As for getting a ticket, don't do it in heavy traffic areas! :)
