Just got back from our trip to the hill country. While eating in Leakey before we rode the 3 sisters, I saw the only other R3 out there. Guy was on a red bike and had a pony tail.
His little group took off just ahead of us. On the toughest part of the ride(336), we were waved down coming into one of the hard curves. You could see the road was torn up pretty good. Turned out to be the Rocket. Tore up both sides of the bike where it had slid and flipped over. Apparently he was going into the turn, saw an oncoming van and got on the brakes and lost it. He was still in shock when we pulled up. He had some serious road rash to his arms and legs and hips. Clothes were shredded. He was wearing a helment, but had on a tee shirt which didn't help.
We spoke to him a bit. His forks were bent a tad and it was hard to turn the bars. He was wanting someone to try and drive it back for him. No takers on a bike that won't steer right in that area and elevation. Called for a trailer. I'm sure he's feeling it today. Glad he didn't get hurt any worse.
Without getting any nosier, I assume he strayed outside of his lane and couldn't pull it back in, or felt he couldn't, and went for the brakes.
I asked if he is part of the forum and he wasn't. Just wondering if it was someone I had communicated here with.
Again, he is OK but really chewed up with some deep gouges out of his arms and legs.
