Cam Chain tensioner adjust

Gratitude for that dope, my friend.
Have you found circa 100K to be normal regarding this?
@warp9.9

Did mine at 48,000kms (30,000 miles) service... was the first service I carried out on the bike after the warranty had expired... had a cold start rattle with the spacer installed.
I adjusted/changed 10 shims and replaced the cam chain... still rattled so decided to revisit and pull the guides... fixed the rattle and the retarded timing...

I don't know what normal is for the Rocket. If, as warp posted above, 70k is the recommended time to change out the cam chain, then I am happy for getting much more than that.

I must admit it was quite q while ago back when no one had reached it. So Triumph might well have a different opinion like with the valve check.

im in the process of doing this right now i have the front cover off,checking clutch wear etc,i know the chain tensioner is at max 25mm.can you tell me do i need to remove the cylinder head to get at the chain guides?i cant see up enough to work out how to get the guides out i note there is no upper fixing screws in the diagram.Is it just the bottom bolt and lower it out? any advice would be welcome thanks.

You do not have to remove the head to change the guides and chain you will need axcess thru the cam cover. I am amazed your is worn since it is a 09. It should have all the updated components. How many miles are on it?

Can you post a picture of the guide tensioner side if the clutch cover is off.

Hi thanks warp.

To be honest im a little pissed off,i bought the bike new in june 2009.now im finding a small lifter piece a slightly worn lifter shaft and the date on some parts is sept 2007...ggggrrrrr. Its done 38k miles

Nice don't be mad about the lifter piece they had not designed the new one until around 2011. The cam chian guide is the updated one. The lifter shaft is not really that bad for 38000. If I work on mine today I'll show you some mucked up pieces.
