Hey Folks,
I received this reply from Peter at Triumph. Since I hadn't seen it on this site or the .com site, I thought that I'd post it.

To unravle it a bit more.....

British Standox and DuPont are the same. What you need for a paint match is not only the color number but the formulary in gram weights plus for a perfect match you also need to do a non-destructive spectroanalysis of an existing part. The reason why is that if you use the formulary, the finish will be factory new and your finish has weathered.

I know all about this stuff because I had my sidecar painted to match my 02 Bonnie in blue and white and I just happen to know a DuPont color techinician in Fort Wayne, Indiana that obtained the formulary for me and did the spectroanalysis on my gasoline tank and then adjusted the formulary to compensate for the weathering.

All finishes weather no matter how you try to preserve them.
