Buying used or new

I guess the point of some here might be, if that's the answer, why didn't Triumph do it that way and save us all this discussion.
Cost. I don't know how much it costs to do a Triumph box.

OLD Guzzi I-Converts have a similar issue - caused by owners simply not reading the manual. The fix is to undercut.
One of these days somebody will baulk at the cost - I'll buy the bike cheap and have it done. My mate Mauro has a set cut ready.

I skipped past the ****storm I saw forming up there.
If it were me buying over again I would buy used for half the price of new and stuff it full of new Carpenter pieces.
YES thats a good idea and build your dream bike at a great price I like that

ONCE you undercut the trans the shifting problems cease along with any damage caused by missed shifts that are the cause of all the damage to the transmissions

What is the cost of doing an R3 box, Art?. I am a slow shifter - On cars I often double de-clutch. But interested to know.

I've been member for almost a year, and yes there are a number of pages about all the problems that people are having with their rides. I've yet to see someone post something that really praises there ride. If I would have believed everything I read here I would not have bought my R3T. Yes there might be some problems but I've still to meet someone who has not had some kind of major problem with other bike. Having been and still a BMW person, last summer was the first time since 1973 that I had a problem with a transmission. yet there are numerous recalls on their trannys. So read on but please don't believe that it's not a good bike. Its definitely all good especially the R3T.Engine is tune down a bit and the tranny will take anything you throw at it. Sorry for my rambling.

my local dealer has a pretty clean classic,I think, it has floorboards and the 2 tone instruments but a silver engine. Part of me just wants to try a bike i haven't owned yet but i'm being pulled back to some of my favorite rides at the same time.
