Brake Pads (confused)

I need to replace the pads on both wheels. Is there any thing special about them, if you look on Ebay there only seem to have sinsered and ceramic type ones. A set can be got for about 30 to 40 quid but I don't want to wear the disks out by fitting the wrong type. Your ideas and comments please.
 
I would just by the EBC set for them and change them more often you still should be able to get three rears to one front set. I use the good ebc ones and have almost 52,000 miles on the original disks/rotors so I would not worry so much about them wearing out.
 
Get a set from Flipmeisters. He sells top shelf stuff at a reasonable price.
