Black Engines

I've read references to the black engine bikes being superior to the aluminum ones.
Any truth to this and if so, what are the differences?

The way I take it is the earlier Rockets had silver engines. By the time Triumph started painting the engines black they had sorted out some of the problems like the gearbox upgrade.
 
I have a 2007 Classic with a black engine. Yes...it is cool but I was wondering if this means I don't have to be concerned about the upgrades?
 
Silver engines were the norm until black anodising became popular because it was different.
It will be interesting what will happen after black becomes the norm.
Colour matched engines with the tin ware would look cool.
