If a PC 625 offers almost twice the cranking amps as a stock Yuasa, you can get one of those for less than a stock Yuasa which online costs around $105.00. I didn't shop around much for the battery, but that was direct from Yuasa! I saw a PC 625 for around $85.00 online.
Here!

Oh, duh...but it's still freezing, and we're in the low 40's at night, just doesn't seem like it should happen this warm. Maybe it's a combination of short rides, extra lights, and cooler weather. I'm in my 2 yr warranty period...should I ask for a new battery or it will be no different so don't bother even if I could get one?

Can't hurt anything but your feelings to ask. Call them and tell them what's up and ask for a new battery. All the can say is yes or no!

I put a PC625 in my R3T at less than a year old. Started to crank slower and take longer to reach full charge using the battery tender. If you want a much better battery without the worry get the Odyssey.

Thanks, Harry, and you got a touring, so the voltage must match up fine then. Cool.

No doubt...just didn't know if it's worth it if I'm going to end up in the same place...w/ a weak battery...but mine could be weaker than a new one, that's for sure. Sounds like I just gotta get the bigger, badder, meaner one, and I'm glad to see some guys got it on tourings so that's not an issue. You dudes are the best. Fish 8)

Pretty cool pipes! So, a Battery Tender Plus isn't strong enough for the big bad battery?

Here's a post from me last winter - and I've had no problems with this battery since:
---------------------------
I found a battery called DEKA ETX20L. Here's a link to a place down the road from me where I got mine for $83 and you can read the basic specs (search online for more details):

http://www.batteryservice.com/products_ ... ber=ETX20L

I rode the bike yesterday in 2° F (feels like -15) and it cranked fine - turned over solidly 3 times and fired up. It's kept in an unheated garage and hadn't been started for 3 weeks (temps have been well below 0 F). I keep it on a 1.25amp battery tender. The advantage, as I see it, over the Odyssey is: I can use my Battery Tender Plus (I'd need to purchase a new charger for the Odyssey) and it's the exact dimensions of the OEM battery, so the toolkit still fits for those that use it. Also, I'm guessing it's lighter than the PC625, but can't confirm that - certainly smaller

Lastly, I asked Gary (G-Man) to check over the specs, and although he would definitely recommend the PC625, he thought this could be a viable alternative. So far, for me, so good

Deka batteries are made in PA

Hope this helps,
