Battery upgrades

Well, the americans like a little extra, the customs like a little extra, the shipping contractors like a little, then the IRS, then the Brit customs and so on and on and on. I am sure I have missed off a whole bunch of money grabbing hangers on who require embursing for moving a peice of paper from one hand to the other. F**kin' parasites.
RANT OVER

Battery R3

I have the same problem with slow cranking somtimes. I bought a new Yuasa battery in Oct. It was good for a while then a couple days ago it cranked real slow, too slow to start, put my old one back in, charged it some and it finally started. Both lead acid. Its not that cold here in AZ.
What About the Gel Cell, wonder if they work better.

It seems that my battery only f**ks up at 2 degrees C and below. Jump the sucker and immediately kill the engine, then start the bike normally and it fires straight up. It almost seems like a sensor is not working somewhere in the priming system?

Mike, that sounds strange indeed - have you taken the battery in to be tested? To come to life after a jolt and act normally without a 'charging' sounds like an intermittent short/open (bad cell?) - perhaps a load test or hygrometer reading would be revealing...kinda doubt that the bike's to blame but I guess that's possible too. A little effort, but having the battery tested would focus you on where to look next.

battery tender

I bought a battery tender (trickle charger) plug it in most of the time, and it cranks good every time.
As long as your battery is in good shape to start with.
