06 Standard
Hey all. I'm replacing the battery in my 06. And I'm looking for a little more power. I can do the standard size 20L which is 310cca or a 16L which is 1/2 inch fatter and 325cca. I have two questions. First, is there that much room in the box front to back? I don't have it here with me at work to test fit. Second, is 15cca enough to make a difference in cranking or longevity? I get either one for the same price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1/2 inch fatter is not going to fit.
You will have to hack up the battery holder

A bit taller would fit.

Motobatt batteries perform way above any other I've seen, bike can sit 3 months in winter and fire right up, no tender.

I think I'll just stick with the ones we carry. My price is $60 for a 20L agm. And if it goes bad at any point I can warranty it nationwide. But thanks for that suggestion, I didn't know about motobatt

Well, for some real power and cut weight, you can go with some EarthX Lithium Iron, or the one I got, the Shorai.

The cost is not going to be $60. More like $360. But they should last several years longer, have no sulfation issues, and do 540 CCA (my Shorai, anyway). And they weigh a fifth of the stock. And work very well in the cold (you get multiple attempts and they improve on every hit as they warm up, instead of dying on attempt one like lead-acid).

But the price is certainly "enthusiast level" especially as the Rockets need the biggest they've got.

Very happy with mine though, going strong for several years already.

I plan on keeping the bike til I die or it does. But I'm in the process of moving and need to get something quick and cheap. I will upgrade it later
