I had Barnett build some stainless cables 4" shorter than stock. Needed because my stock cables were binding with the race risers and dropped bars. The Barnett cables are a huge improvement in quality over stock Triumph crap... silky smooth. Inner clutch cable is teflon coated.

Stock Triumph crap????????????? has anyone had any problems with the stock cable, I have close to 40000miles on mine and not one bit of trouble. It would be great if Triumph or any other bike manufacturer would go all out on top of the line cables, clutches, mirrors etc etc but what price would the Rocket or any other entry level bike be???????????? ;)

Hombre, You getting all these aftermarket people to sponsor you? You should be getting good compensation for all the advertising your giving them!

If non-swiveling cable ends and plastic adjuster nuts are acceptable to you as cruisers, then by all means stick with the stock Triumph cables. I pay dealer cost so don't know exact retail, but I imagine you can buy all 3 cables from Barnett for about $175. My only sponsors are Ducati Designs and Tiger Racing.

Hombre the cables do look nice and I take it that the action is very smooth, I am taking it for granted that you have the heavy duty clutch plates on your bike, what would the Teflon coated cables feel like with the std clutch? it is always nice having some tension to pull on or would the new cables be to light? Hopefully you know what I mean:D

Scott, my point was that the Barnett cables are not just about looks, most riders order the black clad. With full swivel cable ends, and all metal adjusters they really are better controls. I imagine that the Triumph clutch cable is not much cheaper than the Barnett, and the teflon coating would benefit every rider.

Walt...

That's true. However, the OEM cables should last almost indefinitely with the exception of the clutch cable which tends to fray at the lower end on ocassion. At that time, a good consideration would be a good aftermarket cable like Barnett. One thing I notice on the OEM cable ends is the ****ty ferrules. They look like a drunk installed them.

I'm not a big fan of teflon lined cables. Normal, less expensive hard nylon liners are just as good, with the addition of a graphite based lubricant ocassionally applied with a pressure cable luber.

I know Flip will settle for nothing but precision. ;)

"Barnett High Efficiency ("HE") is a nylon lined inner cable, now combined with Teflon lined casing producing a very easy clutch lever pull."

"All metric cruiser clutch cables come standard with our exclusive High Efficiency inner wire which we were the first to introduce in 2006. These "HE" cables feature a nylon coated inner wire, HDPE inner liner, and are pre-lubed with a silicone lube resulting in an ultra smooth cable action and reduced lever effort."
