Back on a bike again soon...from Illawarra, NSW Australia

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Some good advice and I have shifted my focus to the RIII classic/roadster. Do not want a tourer.
My focus is on 2008 or later models with obvious accessories (comfy seat, back rest, upgraded pipes, screen) if possible.
May consider interstate purchase but obviously costs will blow out.
$14k budget...thoughts?

That makes me laugh because my Mrs was trying so hard to get me to buy the Storm fortunately i bought the Rocket :) She still calls the Rocket the LadyBug due to the red stripe and "googly" eyes...........
Two things i'd like to say:
1) Welcome aboard
2) "QUEENSLANDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

Wrecka.
1. Thanks
2. Whatever...lol

gday mate and welcome to the site.

BOth bikes are great but I do know many people that have ridden both all say they prefer the space and comfort of the R3. Also, the rocket does give you that giddy grin everytime you take her for a spin. If you are considering a lot of 2 up riding the touring is a great bike and compares well with the tbird.

One thing to point out, several people I know have sold the Tbird after a while as they werent 100% convinced it was for them. SOme upgraded to a rocket others went a dressed HD.

As far as k's go, if it is stock i dont think it matters. If it is tweeked or worked, check who did the work and you'll know what you are getting.

I know there is a rippa r3 in canberra up for grabs speak to @CanberraR3 , it is his personal bike. Alternately he'll get you a deal on a tbird if thats the path you chose.

Good luck and let us know if there is anything we can answer for you.

Thanks Ponters, some good tips.

G'day and welcome. The gauges on the R3T are on the tank, but all the other RIIIs have them mounted on the bars. I have just shy of 200,000 kilometres on mine, so I am not sure what you mean by too many. :)

Thanks IDK. You know when you buying a car it's mandatory to check out the mileage. I don't know what 'too many kms' is but for some reason I shy away from +20,000kms. Obviously a stock bike with regular service history is what to look out for.

Mate 14k will get you a good bike. As I mentioned previously, I know @CanberraR3 has got one for you and I think there is a couple in Qld.
Personally I would only consider buying a used rocket from someone on this site or someone that knows someone on this site as you can be sure that any niggly bits have been sorted properly. Of course thats just my opinion though.

Tks Ponters. Have conversed with @CanberraR3 and he has shown me the bike and given me some useful info about it. Like the idea of buying through this site. Will look out for a thread containing 'For Sale' items.
