rocket 111 classic 2004
Hi Im having problems with back light,I have a 2004 rocket classic had the bike 15 years, Ignition on everything works apart from the back light, Key in park position everything as it should be including back light. Brake light works ok, Checked fuse changed bulb all ok, not very clued up on electrics is there anything else i can check

Sounds like a contact problem. The power comes from fuse #10 to the instrument lights to the ignition switch, Inside the ignition switch contact blocks connecting the red/orage wire from fuse #10 to the red/blue wire that goes to the instrument lights when the ignition is ON.

Part of that ignition switch wirea goes to the tail light and the horn so if your horn doesn't work it is probably that circuit.
Take a 12 volt test light and hook the clamp on negative ground and with t ign on touch each side of the fuse with the probe. If one side lights up and the side doesn't then that fuse is bad.

I changed the ignition to down on the side, i connected old ignition back up still same problem, if everything else works as it should is the back light on a circuit on its own?

Horn works

According to the diagram I have the ignition switch has 3 positions, On/Off/Park. When in ON the instrument lights are supposed to come on from power through the #2 fuse. When in Park the ignition system is off but there's a bypass cicuit that connects power from the #2 fuse (main power to ignition) to the instrument cluster lamps. So if the switch is in park position and the lamps come on, then the ignition switch contact for ON is not closing the power contact from #10 fuse to light the instrument lamps, according to my drawing.

i have seen a lot of these threads go several pages and then they a take a 12 volt tester light and all of a sudden they have found the problem a bad fuse.
