Another TPS Symtom

yeah I do most around town and to and from work (only 8km and not worth start the Rocket for) riding on Ann's little GPX250, great little bike around town and good fun thru some of the back streets

I had a similar problem that cleaning my crank angel sensor fixed and i've been adding seafoam every other fill up . It seems to keep my injectors pretty clean.

so what you are saying or confirming it a rehostat that gets highly used in a certain areas can wear out or at least wear enough that the voltages are not consistant. Especially the older style. Not to mention the the newer style, which either one can get a lot of wearing in areas of constant use like cruise speeds ?

the bad lot of fuel was so bad that you would have been horified at what I bought out of my tank.
I also regularly use injector cleaner n both my car and bike but nothing would have stopped the crap I found from blocking the injectors!!
Scott that is exactly what I am saying as it was fine at idle and other areas not constantly used areas the 2,800 to 3,200 area is where I do most of my cruising and as I rarely use the Rocket for shop hoping etc and I don't live or spend any more time than I have to in heavily built up areas when I leave my street I am straight into a 100km/h zone

I had mine replaced a few months ago, the tech showed me the flat spot where the return spring doesn't bring it back & resulting in high idle in my case. I guess it can manifest in many ways depending on how much wear there is. Mine's an 09 classic & the TPS was black innards, I complained that they had been upgraded before this, but Triumph just said that the black & blue are the same, not an upgrade, just a different supplier.- BOLLOCKS

Very very common problem on all rheostats. I fact depending on how the resistive track is made - they'll happily burn a dead spot in the track with no movement at all.

I have a mate who maintains farm equipment (tractors, harvesters etc) - the number of TPS's he gets through a year is massive. So much so he's now located a chinese mfr who makes most of what he uses - and buys direct - gets them for 10% of the listed dealer price.

Some bikes report vibration at these RPM, maybe it effects the TPS at that point?

I noticed slight surge @ 110kmh ever since I got the bike & allways thought it idled a bit fast. At 110kmh apart from the slught surging it runs smooth as silk, but above 120kmh it gets engine vibration from then on. I had the bike dyno'd a month ago so would they have picked up a problem with the TPS if it had one.

my bike had been doing it (surging) very slightly for a longish time but I just thought it was one of those thing that just need to live with, it was only recently that started getting worse I I only spotted the solution when I saw the voltage going Ape**** as I slowly bought up the revs and it came it to the region otherwise the TPS had tested fine as per normal test procedure

glad iv seen this post, last week I had the brakes on scenario I couldn't understand it.this morning I had vibes in slow moving traffic,by lunchtime the revs would only drop to 2k but would steady at 850 after a while...im guessing tps.09 24k miles..

just went back to it after letting it cool, started it up and idle bounced between 700-1000rpm...9 minutes into the 12 minute tune it suddenly evens out at 850.fingers crossed.

just had the manual out, when resetting adaptives after changing a tune,"engine must be running and at normal operating temp"otherwise false settings will be installed.

I think this is where I went wrong,i did it engine off and cold !!
