In all seriousnes I would personally wait till you have done at least 2 oil changes about 12-15 thousand miles before switching, just to let everything bed in as switching to early could lead to Glazing or blow by due to rings not sealing because they did not bed in properly JMTCW

That's a real good point. One thing about picking an arbitrary number of miles to switch is that it does not take into account riding style. Some engines, if babied, will take many more miles to break in. Many BMWs for example are still tight after 10K miles. If you start really thrashing your engine shortly after the initial factory recommended break in it will likely be fine to switch to synthetic earlier, but if you're not stressing the engine, you should wait longer.
